Welcome back my crafty friend! Guess what?! I was invited to guest design for Brutus Monroe this month!!! After I jumped out of bed and did the happy dance, I started thinking about what I’d like to make. I wanted to do something a little outside of the box, and honestly, I have been in love with this new Halloween set since I first saw it. I knew I wanted to use it, but it’s a little early in the year for Halloween cards, right? (Well, for some of us 😉 ) But the wheels started turning…
Now, if you’re anything like me, you love stretching your stamps and getting as much use out of them as possible. I’m sure you’ve used an everyday set for holidays by adding a Santa hat or turning a heart into a shamrock, but have you ever used a holiday set for a different holiday? Well, that’s what came to mind for me!
I love how these turned out! I could see using the vampire again with a “getting old sucks” or “being sick sucks” sentiment banner. And the mummy is too cute! Wouldn’t she be perfect on a World’s Greatest Mummy card?
For both of my cards, I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the images. I colored them with Copic markers and cut them out with my ScanNCut. I die cut pattern and glitter papers from my stash with heart shaped dies from Simon Says Stamp and Pink & Main. I added shading to my die cuts with Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, Festive Berries, and Aged Mahogany Distress Oxide inks.
On my Galentine card, I cut the background out with a scalloped rectangle die and I added an extra bit of sparkle with an Aqua Shimmer pen and Diamond Glaze. The background for my Valentine card was created with a small heart die from Reverse Confetti and I finished it off with flat-backed sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.
So what do you think? Have you ever re-purposed any holiday sets? How do you stretch your supplies?
