The Rabbit Hole Designs Christmas Release

Hey crafty friends, it’s day 3 of the inspiration hop celebrating the Christmas release from The Rabbit Hole Designs! If you’ve missed the first two days, check out day 1 and day 2. And don’t forget to comment as you hop with us for your chance to win new stamps! (Details below.)

Today, I’m sharing cards featuring the Light Me Up Stencil and Merry Mousemas Stamp Set. The stamp set has a pair of silly little mice all ready for some Christmas adventures. I love that the mice and the pigs from yesterday’s featured stamps are unique and have more realistic features. They are larger images that can quickly fill the space on a card, and they’re fun to color.

My Christmouse card came together very quickly. I stamped, embossed, and Copic colored my image, then fussy cut it with my ScanNCut (coordinating dies are also available though). I created a shiny ornament with nesting circle dies and a combination of glitter and silver cardstock. I die cut some holiday greenery pieces to to tuck behind the mouse and used foam tape to pop up the ornament, as well as the mouse. Some flat-backed gems and a little ribbon add extra dimension and texture to the card. Since both of the mice in this set are roughly the same size, you could exchange one mouse for the other to make coordinating, yet different cards.

For the release hop, I kept most of the cards simple, because I wanted to share holiday cards that would be fast and easy to recreate. But there are always a few special people on our list that we want to do something more for. Plus, you know I couldn’t resist using the Light Me Up Stencil to make a light-up card, right?!

I stamped, embossed, and Copic colored the couple from Love You More – Christmas Frost set and a few packages from Hoggy Holidays, then fussy cut them with my ScanNCut (again, coordinating dies are also available). I die cut a box card from double-sided pattern paper. I also die cut extra pieces the same size as the back panel and side flaps from coordinating paper. I trimmed them down to create a 1/8″ border. I stenciled the light strand on the back decorative (blue) panel, then cut out the openings for the bulbs. I backed them with colored vellum, and stamped “push” at the bottom of the panel. I used a pencil to mark the back (red) layer of the box card, where I wanted the lights, then taped the three LEDs from an EZ-Light in place. I taped the battery pack down at the bottom of the card so the button would sit right under the “push” stamp. I popped the decorative panel up with a double layer of foam tape, then assembled the box card as usual. (Basically, the back panel of the box card is just thicker than normal to accommodate the EZ-Light. By leaving a 1/8″ border on the sides of the popped up panel, the card will still fold flat.) I decorated the card with the couple and packages. I also added a sentiment to the front flap and the very back of the card that I embellished with the smaller light strands on the stencil.

Now I admit that this card took longer than the others, but the pattern paper and EZ-Light took a lot of the effort out of it. And look at it; isn’t it adorable?! If you’ve been looking for EZ-Lights, The Rabbit Hole Designs has a very limited number in stock. Grab them now! I am still sold out, but I expect to have more in stock by the end of November/early December.

So what do you think of my cards? Will you only be making quick and easy cards this year, or will you throw a few WOW cards into the mix too? I’ve been trying to get a jump on things so I have time for a few fancy ones 🙂 Ready for more inspiration? Hop along with us to see what the rest of the team has cooked up with the new sets!

  1. Oh, I love the mouse. His little toes are splayed irregularly, which is so charming. He is adorable. And I like your light up design. It was worth the extra time and effort 🙂

  2. I have been seeing a lot of their stamps recently and they are so cute!

  3. I love the two cards you created today. The mouse is adorable, but I’m feeling really inspired by your light up box card. I think I need to try something like it to send to my niece. 💕

  6. Adorable card! Love the card you created with this cute mouse! And your light-up box card is awesome! I make a few of the more involved cards, but try to come up with a simple design that goes together more quickly for most of the cards! Fun to make those extra special ones though!

  7. Wow! I just love that pop up box! And what a fun mouse on the ornament!
