Halloween Wreath

Hello my crafty friend! I know I’ve been sharing lots of Christmas cards this month, but I’m switching gears, and showing you a few Halloween cards this week. The new release from The Rabbit Hole Designs is live today, and the theme this time is autumn and Halloween. As soon as I saw the Halloween Wreath, I knew I wanted to color it up, and add a sassy sentiment to the center, for a fun twist.

As per my usual, I stamped the Halloween Wreath image in Warm Glow ink, and colored it with Copic markers. You can see the colors I used in the photo below, including gold and white gel pens, and a fine point Copic Multiliner for the spiderwebs. Since there isn’t a coordinating die for this set yet, I used a pencil to create an outline for my ScanNCut to follow. Instead of cutting out the center, I choose to leave it in place for my sentiment.

Speaking of sentiments, I chose a funny one from the Sassy Sentiments stamp set for this card. I thought it was hilarious paired with the spooky images in the wreath. After embossing it onto Perfect Sentiment cardstock with white powder, I cut it out with a fishtail banner die.

For extra interest and texture in the background, I dry embossed the new Cat Eye stencil onto a yellow panel, then inked it with a coordinating color. To balance the wreath out, and make it more circular, I die cut a scalloped circle from vellum. This also helped soften the transition from the wreath to the bright background. To assemble the card, I popped each layer up with thin foam tape. Then, I added a few black gems for sparkle. What do you think?
