Hello Sunshine – Quick and Easy Card

I bet you have a few interactive sets in your stash and you probably mentally classify them in the “takes longer to make” section, right? Well, don’t forget, they often come with really cute decorative elements that can be used for quick cards too! Today, I’m sharing a quick and easy card that would brighten up anyone’s day, featuring the Hello Sunshine die set from i-crafter

To start, I die cut the sun, clouds, and sentiment pieces from heavyweight watercolor paper. Then I watercolored them with my new Karin markers. You can skip the coloring if you cut your pieces from colored cardstock instead, but I love to color them myself. It gives you a no-line coloring look, but since you are working on cutouts, you don’t actually loose the lines, like you sometimes can with faint stamped images. Does that make it faux no-line coloring? Lol, that sounds complicated. Let’s just say we’re coloring our die cut pieces.

While those were drying, I cut a circle from masking paper and covered the background of a 4″ x 5ΒΌ” white panel. I ink blended light blue ink through the circle, to create a sky. Next, I removed the mask and glued my die cut pieces in place.

To prep my card base, I added a piece of coordinating washi tape along the left side. Then, I popped my scene on top with fun foam. I like using thin fun foam, in place of foam tape for larger panels. It’s less expensive, and if you use a coordinating color, it adds a nice pop of color when you look at it from the side. (Kind of like the fancy business cards with colorful seams.)

A coat of shimmer pen over the sun, and few scattered sequins give the card a nice, sparkly finish. That’s it. Easy peasy, right? You could make a dozen of these in an afternoon! I think this card would also work well for a new baby card. What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by today. You can find the sister article to this on the i-crafter blog. Head over for more inspiration and to see a few more fun ways to use the Hello Sunshine die set. I’ll be back tomorrow with another new card to share.
