As soon as I saw the sushi set from Gina K Designs, I knew I had to have it. It’s adorable! Using Warm Glow ink for a no-line coloring look, I Copic colored a few pieces and created a fun thank you card.
Notice the realistic roe texture on the left piece? You can see how easy it is to create in this short video…
I simply stamped the sushi images in Warm Glow ink, colored them with Copic markers, and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I added the roe texture with a combination of Microbeads and Diamond Glaze to one piece. The center piece has a bit of shimmer pen on the nori (seaweed wrap). And I added more Diamond Glaze to the top, as well as the shrimp on the last piece.
To pull the card together, I used foam tape to pop the sushi pieces and chopsticks up on a black panel that was embossed with a woodgrain folder. I glued that to a 3ΒΌ” x 6ΒΌ” kraft card base with the sentiment stamped below. A few black gems add more sparkle. This card fits perfectly into a red #7 Coin Envelope.
I love the way this card turned out, and I hope I’ve inspired you to give it a try. I’d also love to know what you think of my short Quick Tip video. I’m working on a series of them that focus on a single technique, rather than a whole card from start to finish. I’ll mix them in with regular videos.
