It’s time for the new release from The Rabbit Hole Designs, and this time, they’re not only introducing some lovely new scripty word dies with shadows, and coordinating sub-sentiment stamp sets, they have new small blender brushes, and an amazing new anti-static powder tool! You definitely want to check these out! For today’s card, I combined the new Love stamps and dies with a new stencil (yes, there are stencils in this release too), and used the new brushes and powder tool for a fun shaker card. Isn’t it pretty?
Let me walk you through the process real quick. (I promise, this card is simple.) First, I taped a white panel under my Garden Trellis Stencil and blended pink, purple, and green ink through for the flowers and dots. The Bitty Bunny Blender Brushes are fantastic at inking up the small areas. I started to blend the green in the larger open spaces with the tiny brush, but soon realized I’d get smoother (and faster) results with a larger brush. I suggest using these small brushes for small areas.
Once I was happy with the blending, I removed the stencil and splattered green ink all over the panel. Then, I trimmed it down with a stitched rectangle die, and I cut the shadow from the Love Scripty Die Set out of the lower right corner, leaving enough room for the sub-sentiment strip underneath.
For the card base, I trimmed a panel of ombre glitter paper slightly smaller than the A2 base, and glued it down. I die cut the word LOVE, lined it up under the opening in the stenciled panel, and glued it to the glitter paper. (The die set it great because you get both the shadow and the word!)
Using strong, double-sided tape, I adhered acetate behind the opening of the stenciled panel, to create the shaker window. Then, I added double thick foam tape around the perimeter, so my shaker bits would have room to wiggle. Before adhering it in place, I piled sequins in the center of the die cut word. I also, made sure to dust the sides of the foam tape near the sequins, with my powder tool, so they wouldn’t catch.
The last step was adding the sentiment strip. I stamped it from the coordinating stamp set with two colors, to match the glitter paper. Then, I embossed it with clear powder. A few more sequins on top finish the card. That’s it, super simple, but shiny and fun!
I wish the glitter showed up better in photos, but you know how camera shy it can be. Here’s a quick look at the card in action…
