Hello friends! I am absolutely in love with this adorable Christmas card featuring everyone’s favorite mice in their holiday best. Using the Steamboat Willie Duo from Spellbinders, I’ve updated these classic characters to look more modern by adding peachy skin tones instead of the traditional white faces – my kids are going to flip for this! The Classic Mouse Alphabet creates that perfect whimsical “MERRY” message with a Christmas strip sentiment from one of my free printables. I borrowed the Santa hat from the Spellbinders Christmas Cocktails Add-On and the tree plus top hat from the Christmas Wreath Add-On. The top hat is ever so slightly too big, but there’s actually a smaller one in the Party Puggles set that would fit even better!

The magic really happens when you add the interactive elements that make this card extra special. I created a cozy scene using the Peppermint Stripes 2DE embossing folder for the background wallpaper and the Woodgrain Stamp to create realistic floorboards – this trick works with any wood grain stamp and instantly transforms your card into a proper scene! The Twinkle Lights are absolutely my favorite part – when you press the button, three separate lights blink on and off, making that Christmas tree come alive.

The best part about this project is how sturdy and lasting it is thanks to the World’s Best Foam Tape – it’s designed to be the perfect thickness for light-up cards and gives you about 30 minutes to reposition if needed, which totally brings down my stress level! I used the Press Stamp and Die Bundle to add that cute “PUSH” instruction, and created an escape hatch on the back so you can replace the battery later. Trust me, I have cards from two years ago that are still going strong, but it’s nice to know you can keep these twinkling for years to come. Halloween and Christmas are perfect reasons for lights, so I hope you’ll give a light-up card a try this fall!
