Hello my crafty friend! It’s time for another release from The Rabbit Hole Designs, and boy you’re going to be so glad you stopped by today! The new stamps are adorable – so many new bunny stamps!!! And the celebration party has some of our favorite designers hopping along with us! (Who let me into this star-spangled lineup?) That being said, I know there are a lot of stops today, so let’s dive right into my card…
Remember Instagram’s old logo?
I wanted to create a fun camera shaped card just like it, but instead of using their traditional colors, I went with soft pastels for spring. I stamped the camera-toting bunny from the new Adventure Awaits stamp set in London Fog ink, and colored her with Copic markers. To add extra shading in the nooks and crannies, like Kathy Racoosin taught me (she’s in the hop today too!!!), I came back in with colored pencils. Using a 3″ circle die, I cut the bunny out and colored the background with pale blue markers. Notice the white highlights in the upper left, and lower right areas? I mimicked the highlights in the lens of the camera the bunny is holding. And if you look closely, you’ll see I added white stripes to her foot, like my sweet bunny, Remington, has.
To create the camera shaped card, I cut a 5½” square card base, and rounded the corners with a large corner rounding punch. I cut a 2″ strip of light purple cardstock to go across the top, rounding the corners before adhering in place. Using the purple plaid in the Spring Floral #1 paper pack, I cut a 3½” strip for the bottom. The Instagram icon has a rainbow in the upper left corner so I mimicked that with the pastel rainbow stripe paper in the same pack. For the button on the opposite side, I cut 1″ square of dark purple cardstock and rounded the corners with a small punch. It is popped up with a thin layer of foam tape, and a ¾” circle is popped up on top of that. I stamped the sentiment on a fishtail banner in purple ink to match. The lens was formed by popping up a 3½” pale purple circle with double thick foam tape. Then I layered the bunny in the center with a thin layer of foam, and covered her with a frame of medium purple cardstock (cut using 3¼ and 2¾” circles nested together). All of the foam really adds a lot of dimension to this card. For additional highlights, I added white gel pen lines, and a few iridescent gems. I just love it! What do you think?
