Baby Pendulum Card

Today, I’ll Create a Baby Pendulum Card using Snap & Slides & Washers. This is such an easy mechanism to create and gives you an interactive element on the front of the card with limited rocking movement. This card has a Baby theme but the Pendulum can be used with many different designs.

Visual Supply list below.

To start my card, I die cut, ink blended and assembled the Rocking Chair and Bear from the Christmas Rocking chair die set. Pattern was added to the card background using the Petit Criss Cross press plate with Spun Sugar distress ink in the Betterpress. The Sentiment was created using the Sweet Sentiments press plate with Veramark ink and Kitsch Flamingo distress glaze before die cutting. The Card background is trimmed down to 3 3/4″ x 5″ before placing the Rocking chair die cut on the background and marking where the Snap & Slide will go with a pencil mark. A circle die from the Like to move it die set is placed over that penicl mark and die cut. The Snap n Slide is inserted and the rocking chair adhered to it using a sticky spot. Tape is used to keep the chair in place as the Pendulum mechanism is created.

A scrap of cardstock is trimmed to 1/2″ wide by 2″ to create the pendulum. Because of the size and weight of the Rocking chair die cut on the front, Two washers are added to the bottom of the strip and the edges are curved with scissors before adding the pendulum to the snap & slide on the back of the card front. A double layer of the double thick foam tape is added to the back to give enough free space for the pendulum to swing. A Wildberry matte is trimmed to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and lightly ink blended with Walnut STain distress ink around the edges. It is then added to the card base before adding the card front with the foam tape. The sentiment is ink blended with Walnut stain distress ink and added to the inside of the card.
