This card has a little bit of everything — shaking sequins, twinkling lights, and a stenciled acetate panel that shimmers with love. I reached for my absolute favorite light-up element, the Pear Blossom Press Twinkle Light, and honestly it never gets old. Three different lights twinkle on and off lighting up this flashlight beam, and it just makes me so happy. Any time I get to make a double interactive card, it’s a good day!

The beam itself was stenciled on with Pearl Hero Paste mixed with a little Lindy’s Magical’s mica powders. It gives you this gorgeous, custom shimmer that you really can’t get any other way, and the color-blending process is so satisfying. Once the stenciling was done, it was time to placce the lights on a panel of glitter cardstock. I placed the lights easily using a scrap piece of acetate and a dry-erase marker. It was definitely a new technique for me, but it’s one I’ll be using again! I hope this inspires you to try a light-up shaker of your own.
To create the shaker layer I cut a wedge out of the dark teal cardstock and then adhered it to a 5.5″ x 4.25″ piece of heavyweight acetate. Then, I adhered a larger piece of recycled packaging so we’d have a way to secure the sequins on the edge without cardstock. I used a layer of foam to lift the teal and acetate layer, added sequins, and then wrapped the recycled packaging around a layer of white glitter cardstock. I added the three twinkling lights to that layer before wrapping the acetate, but had to wait to adhere the battery since the acetate wraps right underneath it, but once that was done, I could secure our battery pack, add one more layer of foam, and close up the card.
I hope you’ll give a light-up shaker a try. They are a lot of fun!
