Celebrating Diwali

Hi folks,

Kavya here with my first post for Pear Blossom Press. I am super excited to show you all the fun ways to add awesome lights and other cool interactive elements to all your cards. For my first card, I decided to begin on an auspicious note by making a Diwali card. Diwali is the Indian β€œfestival of lights”—celebrating the triumph of good over evil. In 2023, Diwali was celebrated on November 12. We usually mark the festival by lighting divas (tiny tea lights made out of clay) and fireworks.Β Β If you don’t celebrate Diwali, you can also use this as inspiration for other firework cards like 4th of July, Birthdays etc.

Supplies:

Learn How:

  1. I started off by ink blending my pale purple card base using all the distress oxide inks mentioned above. For the fireworks, I was inspired by a card I saw by Francine. I then heat embossed the fireworks using white and gold glitter embossing powder.
  2. Then, I stamped and colored a bunch of images from Crafty Meraki Happy Diwali and Holi Hai stamp sets. I created the die cut Diwali sentiment using a die from Mudra Stamps and adhered all the pieces on the card base.
  3. For the EZ-lights, I made small holes in the center of the fireworks and added lights at the back of the card.
  4. I finally adhered the battery pack at the bottom of the card base and added a ‘push here’ sentiment at the bottom of the page.

That’s it! I hope this card inspires you!

Happy Crafting,

Kavya
