Double Embossed Stenciling

Hey crafty friends, I’ve got a cool technique to share, and I wish we had smell-o-vision technology for this one. I double embossed the background with both chocolate and java scented embossing powders; it smells a lot like a mocha!

For this technique, I first smooshed Versamark ink all over a panel, then covered it with chocolate embossing powder and melted it. I repeated the process until I had a nice smooth coat on the panel. (A pair of tweezers was very handy to hold the panel while I was heating it.) Then, I used a powder tool on the panel and taped the new Broken Glass stencil on top. I smooshed more Versamark through the stencil, onto the panel. After removing the stencil, I sprinkled java embossing powder on top, and heat the panel again. The java powder melted into the chocolate powder, but the stenciled pattern remained clear and crisp. I trimmed it down and used it for the background of my card.

To pull the card together, I stamped and Copic colored the ant from Buggy for Caffeine, then cut him out with my Scan N Cut. I popped him up onto a die cut circle, with the sentiment embossed on it. I layered the double embossed background onto a white card base, and the sentiment circle on top. For a fun touch, I glued on a line of little plastic ants.
