Hello everyone! It’s Samantha Pfrimmer with you on the Pear Blossom Press Blog today. I am so excited to share a sweet birthday card featuring a fun product from Pear Blossom Press, the Shaker Dome. The shaker dome pairs perfectly with the Pear Blossom Press Halo Light and allows you to make an eye-catching double interactive card.
Detailed below I will share the steps I followed in making this card and a tip I learned after making a few mistakes along the way.

CARD INSTRUCTIONS
I am a card crafter who enjoys playing around with different card sizes and for this project I thought it would be fun to make a 5.5” square card. To start my project, I first cut out multiple blooms from the Hey Honeycomp Flower Power Die set in pink, tangerine, and lavender. Next, I cut the flower centers using gold-colored cardstock from my stash. For the largest feature bloom, I also needed to cut a circle within the flower center as this was the area where I planned to feature my light-up shaker element. Using my Waffle Flower Nesting Circle Die set, I selected a circle die that fit the diameter of my shaker dome and cut away the center of my flower. I set this die aside as I was going to need it later to help with my card base design. Once my blooms were die-cut and assembled, using my paper trimmer I cut two 4.5” square card bases from white cardstock and worked on my design arrangement.
NOTE: Always think about where you want your light-up press button to be. I actually had to remake this card a second time because my original placement had the button in an area where the recipients hand blocked the whole card when pressed. Lessons learned the hard way!
When I had the correct location of my bloom and my press button, I used a pencil and my die-cut flower center as a guide to draw a circle on my card panel where I would need to cut a second circle for my shaker dome. Once done, I lined up my die-cut card panel with my second white card panel and drew another circle where my shaker dome and halo light would be.
Next, I added gold sequins to the center of my pencil-drawn circle and adhered the shaker dome to the card panel. I them added my halo light, making sure to line up my press button, before adding my World’s Best Foam tape and adhering my top panel.
Once my two card panels were assembled, I adhered all of my flower die cuts with glue, trimming off the excess from the edges with scissors before adding my sentiment using The Greetery Sentiment Suite stamps and dies. My card panels were matted to a 5.5” square card panel in the same cardstock color as my feature flower and attached to a folding white card base. The final touch… I used my PB Press Stamp set and stamped a little press here message in gold ink.
My card was now complete and it both lights up and shakes and my daughter told me it was good enough to give to her friend. This is high praise indeed.
