Fall Flair

As the weather turns brisk, it’s starting to feel like fall. So this month for the Heffy Doodlers Challenge, we’re creating cards with a FALL FLAIR. Here’s a look at the card I made to kick the challenge off…

A column of die cut leaves over a woodgrain background, create the perfect setting for these sweet little squirrels. Don’t you think? The gold leaves and sequins really sparkle and shimmer. With very little coloring, this card comes together very quickly. If you’d like to recreate it, grab your supplies and meet me in the craft room.

SUPPLY LIST
Nuts About You Stamps and Coordinating Dies
Forest Leaves Dies
Woodgrain Texture Background Die
Pumpkin Spice Sparkle Mix
Essential Gel Pens

To start, I stamped and embossed my sentiment in the lower right corner of a white panel. Then, I ran it through my die cutting machine with the Woodgrain Texture Background Die on top. I trimmed it down to 3Β½” x 4ΒΎ” and mounted it onto an A2 kraft card base with thin foam tape.

Next, I die cut Forest Leaves from cardstock scraps in fall colors and gold glitter. I arranged them down the left side of the woodgrain panel and glued them in place.

After stamping and Copic coloring squirrels and acorns from the Nuts About You Stamp Set, I added white gel pen highlights and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I popped them on top of the leaves with more thin foam tape and glued on sequins and gems from the Pumpkin Spice Sparkle Mix. To add more shimmer and help the transition between the leaves and white panel, I drew on gold gel pen dots. I love the way it turned out! Here’s another look…
