So in my husband’s down time, he likes to go camping and explore old, abandoned mines. I can’t say I have the urge to crawl into deserted mines; in fact, the idea kind of terrifies me. When he goes, I have to distract myself and not let the idea of him getting stuck or trapped enter my head. It’s hard. I know he loves it, so I try to imagine scenes like this…
Or this…

I know it’s silly, but it helps 😉
Now let’s talk about these cards! Aren’t the new Mine Workers from Kindred Stamps adorable?! As soon as I saw them, I knew I’d be putting them in a shadow box card. I used a mountain add-on scene to cut out the stalactites and stalagmites, and spritzed on some Glimmer Mist to add a sheen to the walls. Before I tucked in my Copic colored images, I used my ScanNCut to fussy cut them without a border. That helps them blend into the scene; a trick to make sure the edges are finished nicely, is to outline them with a black marker. I also coated the gems with a layer of Diamond Glaze before adding them to the box. As a finishing touch, I glued flat-backed gems to the walls and background pieces .
For the slimline card, I created another mine scene, but this time it was just inked onto a flat background. I die cut a mask with my stitched hillside borders, then added blue ink and more glimmer mist to the edges. I die cut a sentiment twice from white cardstock, and a third time from black. Then I stacked them together, slightly offsetting the black layer, to create a drop shadow. I used a combination of glue and foam tape to add the characters and gems to the scene. To add interest, I added a strip of pattern paper along the bottom, below the scene.

Hi Sharon! Aren’t they fun? The images fall into the fan art category and they aren’t promoted as anything other than that.
