Koalified to Party with Heffy Doodle’s New Release and Blog Hop

Woohoo! Welcome to the Heffy Doodle New Release Inspiration Blog Hop! Are you ready to party? We are! And we’re sharing fun new cards to celebrate!!! Oh yeah, there’s a giveaway too. Hop along with us for your chance to win a Β£50 voucher to the Heffy Doodle store!

I have to tell you, I really am wild about this new release. Especially, all of the new critters! When the new stamps and dies arrived, I jumped right in and got busy. I made about a dozen cards in just a few days (which is a lot for me; I’m a slow crafter). I was so inspired, I just couldn’t stop playing. Here is a peek at some of them…

You may have seen a few of these in the new release videos from Heffy Doodle, and I’ll share more on them soon, but I have another brand new card I wanted to share today. It’s a quick and easy birthday card, featuring the new Koality Hugs Stamps and Dies. To keep it from feeling too plain, I used one of the new Whimsically Wonky Rectangle Dies to create a stitched border. If you’d like to recreate a card like this, grab these supplies and meet me in the craft room…

The first thing I did was stamp out my images and color them with Copic Markers. Whenever I get new stamps, I love to stamp out a lot of images, and take them to the couch to color. It’s relaxing while I watch TV with the family. Sidenote: a nice clipboard and Collapsible Marker Bags make it easy to take my coloring away from my desk. And I’ve found that my coloring sheets don’t slip around if you clip a stencil mat to the board. (I’m still deciding if I like that or not.) You can see the colors I used below. After I colored my images, I die cut them with the coordinating dies.

To allow my koala to hug the tree, I trimmed around his front arm and leg. Then, I outlined the cut edges with a black marker. For his hat, I trimmed the white border away at the bottom and again outlined the edge with a black marker, before gluing it to his head.

With the focal point ready to go, I created a simple background. After die cutting a white wonky stitched panel, I stamped the sentiment near the top, then ink blended light green ink below and added darker green splatter. I popped it up on a cream card base with foam tape. I really love white and cream combos, but I know not everybody does. You could swap it out for a kraft card base instead.

To finish the card, I popped the koala and tree up on the card with more foam tape. I considered adding a few green gems for sparkle, but decided against it. This card is just too cute as is! I paired it up with a light green envelope and called it done. Quick and easy! What do you think?

I appreciate that your card is helping us keep the koala in our collective consciousness. Your card is darling… and I love the close-up of the Copic coloring so that we can see how you did it!
