Make a Happy Wish With Candle Light

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Hanh Nguyen with you on the Pear Blossom Press Blog today. I am so excited to share a fun light-up birthday card with you featuring the Pear Blossom Press Candle Light and Streamside Studios My Favorite Cupcake. I just love this amazing Pear Blossom Press Candle Light! Just like the other Pear Blossom Press lights, there is a button to activate it but this one turns off when you blow at it like a real candle! How cool is that?! I love it!

SUPPLIES:

Candle Light – Pear Blossom Press

PB Press Stamps and Die Bundle – Pear Blossom Press

World’s Best Foam Tape – Pear Blossom Press

Streamside Studios My Favorite Cupcake

Mama Elephant Sweetest Greetings

CARD INSTRUCTIONS: I stamped the images from the My Favorite Cupcake set onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I stamped and cut out  masks for the different parts in order to overlap them as well as ink up the background. I colored them with Copic markers and accented with a white gel pen.

COPIC COLORS:

Cupcake Liner: R22/24/29

Cupcake: E25/29

Frosting: RV000/10/21/13/14

Strawberry: R22/24/28, YG01/03/17, E33/35/39

Candle: R22/24/29, C00/1/3, Y06/08

I applied the masks onto my colored images and lightly ink blended some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink to the background. I stamped one of the sentiments from the Mama Elephant Sweetest Greetings Stamp set directly onto the panel with the same black ink.

In order to block out the light that could come through the backside of my white panel, I temporarily adhered a black cardstock to the back of my colored panel.I used the Pear Blossom Press Candle Light to get a rough layout on my panel. I made sure to align the light directly behind the flame on the image and the little hole on the Candle Light behind the wick of my candle so that I could hide the hole that I would have to poke into my panel. With this light, a hole is needed so that it could trigger the light to turn off when the recipient “blows” out the candle. I poked a hole through the candle wick through both panels. I removed the black panel and used the flame-shaped die from the Pear Blossom Press Stamps and Die Bundle set to diecut a flame shape directly above the little hole to allow the light to shine through. I adhered the colored and black panels together. I stamped the “PRESS” and “BLOW” sentiments from the Pear Blossom Press Stamps and Die Bundle set onto the panel.

Next, I prepared my Pear Blossom Press Candle Light by placing the coin battery into the battery unit. Then I aligned the unit with the hole for the light and the word “PRESS” on my panel and secured it to the panel with tape. I tested the light out to make sure everything worked and was aligned properly.

In order to create room for the battery unit on the backside of my panel, I adhered some Pear Blossom Press World’s Best Foam Tape to the panel. This foam tape is absolutely AMAZING! It allows you 30 minute working time during which you can adhere, remove and re-adhere the foam tape as many times as you want and it does not tear up the cardstock! It slowly becomes permanent in 24 hours. It’s magic! Pure magic!

I removed all of the release paper from the foam tape and adhered the panel to a piece of red cardstock (4.25″ x 5.5″). Finally, I adhered the panel to a white cardbase (4.25″ x 5.5″).

As always, I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and visit today. I hope you liked my card.  Please also visit my INSTAGRAM feed for more inspirations. Have a wonderful and crafty day!
