Hey crafty friends, this week I’ll be sharing some fun projects, along with some brand new tattoo themed products! The Rabbit Hole Designs‘ new release is live today, and I’m kicking things off with a pair of masculine cards to set the mood. The retro tattoo stamps have bold images that are easy to color. To add more interest, I spiced my cards up by embossing the top panels with new stencils that coordinate perfectly.
To start, I stamped the Dice & Diamond Tattoo and Horseshoe Tattoo images onto white cardstock panels. Using a Misti was helpful, since the bold lines of these images required double stamping for a dark black outline. If you don’t have a stamp positioner, make sure to condition your stamps first with Versamark, or an eraser. (Also, if you don’t have a stamp positioner, the Mini Misti is available for less than $40, including free 2-day shipping right now! I’ve never seen the price this low!!!)
After coloring them with Copic markers, I embossed the panels by sandwiching them between a silicone embossing pad and a stencil. Then, I ran them through my die cutting machine. Each machine is different, so check your manual for the correct plates and guidelines. But remember, your paper always goes in between the squishy pad and the stencil. (If you’d like to see the process, head on over to my Instagram page to see a short video.) Both the Dotted Flower Stencil, and the Icon Stencil, coordinate perfectly with all of the new stamps this month.
To finish the cards, I mounted the panels onto red woodgrain card bases, with thin foam to pop them up. Finally, I glued on a few red flat-backed gems, and added some shimmery accents with an Aqua Shimmer pen. While these cards were designed with guys in mind, they’d actually work well for lots of my female friends too. Do you have anyone that you’d make cards for with these tattoo stamps?
