Hi guys! I’m Debbie with Debbie J’s Crafting Corner, and if you know me, you know how much I love creating cards that light up. Today, I’m sharing a fun interactive project using the Autumn in Kyoto collection from Spellbinders along with the fabulous One Light from Pear Blossom Press.

Pressing and Stenciling the Scene
I started off by using the BetterPress system to create a crisp, debossed stamped image on thick BetterPress cardstock. While the collection is named Autumn in Kyoto, I decided to go with vibrant, bright colors using Simon Hurley inks and the included layering stencils. The beauty of stencil sets like this is that you can completely change the season or mood just by switching up your ink colors!
Hand-Cutting Windows & Diffusing the Light
To let the light shine through the building, I broke out my craft knife—something I rarely do! I carefully cut out the lower-level window apertures. To prevent the single LED light from creating a harsh hotspot, I layered multiple partial-pressed cardstock pieces and a sheet of vellum behind the windows. This extra layers help diffuse the glow evenly across the entire building, so only the windows light up beautifully when the button is pressed.
Installing the One Light & Final Touches
Installing the Pear Blossom Press One Light was super simple! I marked the position on the back of my panel, adhered the light unit, and popped up the whole assembly using foam tape. To finish off the card, I added a “Thank You” sentiment and brushed Nuvo Gold shimmer across the roof and trees for an extra pop of sparkle whether the light is turned on or off.

Watch the Magic Happen!
I’ve put together a full video tutorial where you can see exactly how this card comes together.
