One Die Set, Two Ways

Hey crafty friend, it’s time for the new release from i-crafter, and this month, we’re getting ready for Christmas! Today, I’m sharing a pair of cards that both use the same die set. One is a tunnel card, and the other is a traditional flat card. Check them out…

The new Tunnel Card, Santa set is an add-on die set to the Tunnel Card Base set. There are three background layers that drop into the base die, to cut out the scene. There are also several separate decorative elements in the set too. For today’s cards, I used this set with and without the base.

First, let me show you how I made the tunnel card. I cut out four tunnel bases, swapping out the three scenic layers, and leaving the last one solid. I trimmed off the sides of the two inner layers at the score lines. After cutting out the decorative elements too, I ink blended the layers and glued the decorative pieces in place. I also stamped a sentiment on the back. You can see the layers here; the second picture shows the back side of the back layer.

To assemble the card, I started with the back layer, and worked may way up. I attached the Santa layer to the back layer with foam tape.

Next, I folded the flaps on the back in, and attached the house layer.

I folded the flaps on the top layer back, and glued them to the house layer.

To finish the card, I glued on a few more decorative elements and the sentiment, along with some shiny gems

For the flat card, I simply cut the same layers from 4″ squares and ink blended them in the same way. I glued the layers together, making sure the circles lined up. (That meant that the outer edges were not perfectly lined up anymore.) I trimmed the stack down to 3¾” square. I glued that to a dark teal card front and added the stacked sentiment underneath. To finish the card, I glued on a few gems and stamped my sentiment inside.
