Puppy Face Wiper Card

Hello again my crafty friend. I’m so excited to share today’s card with you! It’s a fun wiper card, with an adorable little puppy inside. As you open the card, his ears pop up. Take a look…

This card is for my niece’s birthday later this month. I wanted to make something special for her, that doesn’t have anything to do with Christmas, so she doesn’t feel like I’ve lumped them together. The bright rainbows and pink puppy are perfect! I know she’s going to love this card!

So how did I make this card? It was easy with i-crafter’s new Puppy Face Wiper die set! You simply die cut the pieces and assemble just like their other wipers (the mechanism folds the same, only the decorative pieces change). If you haven’t played with the i-crafter wiper sets yet, check out how easy it is to fold the mechanism in this video

For the puppy, I wanted to tuck him into a mini-slimline card (3 1/4″ x 6 1/4″), so after I folded him, and glued him together, I made a slight modification, trimming the bottom tabs to 3/8″ (see photos below). I also decided to adhere the ears to the pup before gluing him into the card. It was just easier. I think I’m going to start assembling all of my wipers that way from now on.

Remember, to attach the wiper to the card, you first add glue to the bottom tabs, and tuck them into the fold…

Then, you apply glue to the thin tab on the back, and close up the card…

With the puppy in place, I just needed to finish decorating the card. I ink blended a rainbow through the Buffalo Plaid stencil onto a white panel for the front of the card, and then decided to pull the pattern inside, along the bottom. (I know I said I wanted to avoid Christmasy stuff for this card, but I think the buffalo plaid works great here, and feels totally different in this color palette. What do you think?)

For the sentiment on the front of the card, I stacked up a few layers of the new Shadow Happy Birthday dies, and added a die cut paw print (included in the Puppy Face Wiper set). Notice the paw print has a bit of gold glitter peeking through? I glued on the light pink outline layer slightly offset, to coordinate with the shadow of the words. I added some shading to the die cut pieces, including the puppy, with Copic markers. You don’t have to do that, but I really like the depth it adds. For a little more sparkle, I scattered on a few gold gems to match the glitter paper. Here’s the finished card…
