Sizzling Summer Slimline

Hello again my crafty friend! It’s the first Tuesday of the month, and that means it’s time for a new Heffy Doodlers Challenge! This month, we picked the theme SIZZLING SUMMER and I made a clean and simple, mini-slimline card to kick off the challenge…

The beauty of clean and simple cards is that they are usually quick and easy to make too. Unless of course, you count all of the time you spend overthinking the project before you begin like I do. Lol, I’m not sure why clean and simple cards are so tough for me, but I love them when I make them. With a card this simple, you might not need instructions, but I’ll list them below, just in case. To make this card, I started by trimming a white panel down to 2 ⅞” x 5 ⅞.” Then, I used three shades of green ink to partially blend the layers of the Arizona Stencil on. I used the lightest color at the top, and worked to the darkest for the bottom. I was careful to leave white space between layers and not blend to the edges. Once I was happy with the blending, I splattered the darkest ink onto the panel and set it aside to dry. 

Next, I stamped and Copic colored a saguaro cactus with three shades of green. I also stamped and heat embossed my sentiment with white powder. After cutting them out with their coordinating dies, I popped them up onto the stenciled panel with foam tape. I cut a green mini-slimline card base to 3 ¼” x 6 ¼” and popped the panel up with more thin foam tape. The final step was to glue on a few green gems for sparkle. What do you think?

I really like this one! By sticking to a single color and picking an easy-to-color image, this card came together in a snap.
