The Coffee Shop Background is Finally Here!

Woohoo! It’s time for the new release from The Rabbit Hole Designs, and this month, there’s a new stamp set that all of you caffeinated critter fans are going to flip for! It’s the Coffee Shop Background. That’s right, it’s a great scene, ready to drop any of your caffeinated critters into. I don’t know about you, but I’ve been dreaming of a stamp like this for ages! Of course, there’s a new critter joining the lineup too – Clarence, the Caffeinated Squirrel.

Today, I’m going to show you how I paired the two up for a fun card. Now I know coloring a whole scene can seem overwhelming, so I kept it simple and only colored the squirrel. In order keep the background from looking incomplete, I opted for a tone-on-tone look, by stamping the coffee shop image with Warm Glow ink onto a kraft card base. (I loved the look so much, I stamped another. I’ll show it to you tomorrow.)

For a pop of color, and a strong focal point, I stamped Clarence, the caffeinated squirrel onto x-Press It Blending Card with Extreme Black ink. Using Copic markers, I colored him in. You can see the colors I used below. A few white gel pen highlights add a nice touch. Once he was all colored, I fussy cut him with my ScanNCut. (There is a coordinating die available here, if you prefer.)

After stamping a funny sentiment from the Perfectly Blended Stamp Set (unfortunately, it’s a retired set), I popped the squirrel onto the card with foam tape. A few scattered gold gems add sparkle, and finish off the card.

What do you think? Fun, right? Simple too. Just remember, if you don’t want to color the whole background, stamp it tone-on-tone. It doesn’t have to be brown; shades of yellow would be perfect behind the Caffeinated Bee. Pink or purple would be cute for the Caffeinated Butterfly. And grey would be great for almost any of the critters. Especially, the Caffeinated Rabbit! I’d love to know what colors you’d choose. Let me know down below.
