Hello friends! I am SO excited to share one of my favorite cards I’ve made in a very long time with you today. This little masterpiece has everything – a popup double slider with adorable aliens, and of course, a spaceship that lights up. With a card link this I’m always sure to include a little hatch in the back so we can replace the battery when it wears out (because let’s be honest, this card is going to get played with a lot!). The magic starts with creating a stunning galaxy background using interference inks that layer beautifully on black cardstock, giving us those gorgeous shimmers in pink, blue, and purple. Then we add some stellar texture with the Starfield Letterpress Plate to create the perfect outer space scene for our alien friends.
The real stars of this show are the tiny aliens from Trinity Stamps – they teamed up with Pear Blossom at Creativation and honestly, the way these products work together is just brilliant! I used the Tiny Alien die set to create four little aliens, and paired them with the Space Saucer Die to build a layered UFO with colored lights peeking through tiny holes. The Crater Layers Stencil gives our alien the perfect lunar landscape to stand on, while the sentiment from Tiny UFO adds that perfect “Greetings Earthling” touch that makes everyone smile.

What makes this card absolutely magical is the interactive element using Emergency Card Essentials #3: Double Slider combined with Twinkle Lights. When you press the alien’s belly button, the spaceship lights up with twinkling colors, and when you pull the slider, three more aliens pop into view like a little clown car surprise! The best part is that even if interactive cards aren’t your thing, you could totally make this as just a light-up card or even a regular card front – there are so many ways to stretch this design. Y’all, I hope this inspires you to give light-up cards a try because the joy they bring is absolutely worth every bit of the extra effort!
