Hello friends, and welcome to one of my absolute favorite types of holiday card projects! It’s a little cheeky, and a little interactive; we’re creating a “Merrier with a Margarita” card with blinking lights that’ll make everyone smile. The magic starts with ink blending—grab the fluffiest brush you have because the fluffier the brush, the easier it is to blend from dark, rich ink into nothing at all, creating that beautiful dimension in your margarita and lime wedge.
Once your ink blending is dry and your margarita is glued together, it’s time to figure out exactly where those lights will shine! Using a pencil, mark little dots on your decorated card front where you want the Twinkle Lights from Pear Blossom Press to peek through. Then grab your favorite pokey tool and carefully enlarge those marks into holes; you want them just big enough so those tiny lights fit into the holes like puzzle pieces.
Installing the lights couldn’t be simpler. Attach your battery and button to the back of your card front panel using double-sided tape, and gently wiggle those yellow lights into the holes you just created. Secure everything on the back with clear tape. Be sure to check that the lights are facing the right direction as you add them. Just flip the card right-side up and push the button to be sure.
To close up the card, add 3mm foam tape all over the back of that card panel, being careful to avoid the area where your battery pack sits. The foam tape keeps the button from being pressed when the card is closed.

This means your card becomes a keepsake that can be enjoyed and used for years to come; just open the little hatch, pop in a new battery, and watch those lights twinkle all over again!
