Comic Relief

Woohoo, you’re in for a treat today! It’s time for the i-crafter & Sassy and Crafty Collab Hop! I paired up products from both companies to create this fun comic book themed card. I love the bold, bright colors and all of the sparkle. It feels like pop art.

If you want to create a card like this, it will be quick and easy. I started by stamping the girl from Sassy Girls – Sweet stamp set and Copic coloring her. Then, I fussy cut a quick mask and stenciled pink and purple ink through the Cosmic Flare stencil on top. I didn’t cut out the negative space between her hands and face, so when I pulled up the mask, there was white space that needed color. I just used Copics in similar colors, you can’t tell and it saved me extra time fussing with the mask. Next, I trimmed the panel down to 3 3/4″ x 5.”

To mimic the bright colors in my image, I die cut the word WOW and the explosion burst from pink, blue, and silver glitter cardstock. Using blue ink, I stamped the burst outline onto the die cut piece, the sub-sentiment onto the stamped panel, and the halftone dots onto a blue card front. I glued the letters to the explosion burst, then glued that to the stamped panel. I glued the panel to the blue card front, and mounted it to a white card base.

To finish the card and add sparkle, I coated the donuts with shimmer pen and Diamond Glaze. Then, I added a few white gems. The bright colors and bling really pop on this quick and easy card. I’d love to know what you think! Are you a fan of the pop art/comic book style? It seems to lend itself to summer for some reason. Maybe the bold color schemes? Maybe it reminds me of playing instead of studying? I’m not sure, but I really like this style. If you’re ready for more inspiration, hop along with us!
