If you’ve ever seen a pear blossom, you know it looks very much like a cherry blossom. So when I see cherry blossom stamps and dies, I am immediately drawn to them. I-crafter’s new Cherry Blossom Box die set is no exception. It has the pieces to make a lovely little gift box, as well as several individual cherry blossom dies. I used a few of them to decorate the front of this pretty slimline card.
To start, I die cut the flowers, centers, and individual petals (leaves) from white, yellow, and green cardstock respectively. A few quick strokes of Copic markers on the flowers and leaves added easy shading. I curled them all with a ball-tipped stylus on a foam pad to give them more dimension. Those last two steps are optional, but really add a lot of character and interest to the flowers.
To pull the card together, I dry embossed a 3″ x 8″ kraft panel with the Kumiko stencil by running it through my die cutting machine with a squishy pad. After gluing the panel to a 3½” x 8½” slimline card base, I glued the flowers and leaves in place. For my sentiment, I die cut the word HELLO three times from white cardstock and layered them together. I glued it to the bottom of the card, along with a few scattered iridescent gems. For added sparkle, I brushed the center of each flower with a shimmer pen. This card was fast and easy to create, and I love the way it turned out!
Are there any images that you are always drawn to? Let me know in the comments below. For me it’s cherry/pear blossoms, and rabbits. I NEED them all!
Thanks for stopping by today. I’ll be back tomorrow with another fun slimline card to share. In fact, I’m sharing a bunch of slimlines over the next few weeks. What can I say? I’m on a slimline kick.
