Christmas Impossible Boxes

Hello my crafty friend, can you believe it’s already November? I’m not sure where the first ten months of the year went, but you know what they say about time flying when you’re having fun. Let me show you what my latest fun project is…

The new Christmas Add-on set turns i-crafter’s Impossible Box into the cutest little holiday gifts! The set includes lots of mix and match dies to make Santa, a chimney, an elf, a snowman, and even a box with a curly bow on top. Don’t let the name fool you, the boxes are really simple to put together. I made a trio to start, but I know I’ll be making more for stocking stuffers.

If you haven’t seen how easy the Impossible Box is to assemble, check out this post for step-by-step instructions (and a fourth Christmas idea for the box).

Let’s take a closer look at each of the boxes I made today. First up, Santa! I simply cut the box from red cardstock and assembled it as usual. Then, I die cut the Santa pieces from white scraps (except the red hat) and colored them with Copic markers. It took less time to color them than it would have to pull out all the colors of cardstock and cut them out separately. Plus, the shading on his face is extra cute. Don’t you think so?

Next up is the snowman. Isn’t he adorable? Similar to the Santa box, I cut out and assembled the box, coloring the decorative pieces with Copic markers. It was quick and easy, since I used low-tack memo tape to hold the small pieces in place while I colored. You can see how the box pops open, and is easy to fill.

Last, let’s take a look at the little blue box. Wouldn’t this be fun to tuck a handmade pair of earrings into, or a pretty little bracelet? I mean, who doesn’t love getting jewelry in a robin’s egg blue box? For this one, I cut four of the bow top pieces, and curled the thin strips with my bone folder to make the loopy bow. After they were glued in place, I spread out the strips to make the bow look nice and full.

I just love how all three of these came out! I’m adding them to the reindeer that I made last month, and I’ll make a few more so I have one for everyone’s stocking. I plan to fill them with handmade jewelry or my favorite lip oil for the girls, and small pocket knives or earphones for the guys. I might even play with snappers and make them into Christmas crackers for the table settings. Wouldn’t that be fun? What would you fill them with?
