A few days ago, I showed you the new Oval Box Pops from i-crafter. (You can see it here.) It was decorated with the Easter Add-on set, but did you know there is also a Unicorn Add-on? It is magical!!! The design team has shared a bunch of incredible pop-up cards with the unicorn, so I wanted to change things up and show you that you can use the die set for flat cards too. Of course, since we’re talking about a magical unicorn, it only seemed appropriate to light up her horn, right?
I created a mini-slimline background for her, because I’m currently obsessed with this size. (I’ve made so many slimlines lately that I feel like I’m cheating on A2s.) To start, I die cut the unicorn pieces, and the stars from the Unicorn Add-on set and colored them with Copic markers. I also cut out the Happy Birthday sentiment and shadow, along with the cloud base from the Happy Birthday Wiper set. Using pastel shades, I blended ink through the Cosmic Flare stencil onto a 3 1/8″ x 6″ panel. I blended the same colors onto the sentiment shadow. I-crafter’s small blending brushes really help get ink into tight areas, so you can fit more colors in.
After gluing the stars to the stenciled panel, I glued that flat to my 3 3/8″ x 6 1/4″ card base. I layered the sentiment and an extra star on top of the cloud base, and glued the unicorn to the back. To indicate where the button for the lights would be, I stamped PUSH at the bottom of the cloud. Before attaching the unicorn to the card, I turned it over and taped an EZ-Light in place, with all three lights lined up on the horn. Double thick foam tape provides dimension, to lift the unicorn up, and give the lights room to shine from behind.

After attaching the unicorn to the card base, a few scattered iridescent gems and stars finish the card. It fits into a #7 coin envelope. Isn’t it fun?!
