Make a Wish and Blow Out the Candle

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Hanh Nguyen with you on the Pear Blossom Press Blog today. I am so excited to share a fun light-up birthday card with you featuring the Pear Blossom Press Candle Light and Gerda Steiner Designs Cupcake Mice. I have been wanting to try this Pear Blossom Press Candle Light out for quite some time. And now that I have … it is just the most amazing thing! It takes light-up and interactive cards up to a whole different level. Just like the other lights, there is a button to activate it and it turns off when you blow at it like a real candle! How cool is that?! I love it!

SUPPLIES:

Candle Light – Pear Blossom Press

PB Press Stamps and Die Bundle – Pear Blossom Press

World’s Best Foam Tape – Pear Blossom Press

CARD INSTRUCTIONS:

I stamped the images from the Cupcake Mice set onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and fussy cut them out. I colored them with Copic markers and accented with a white gel pen.

COPIC COLORS:

Mice: E50/51/53/33, R00/20, R000/00/20, C7

Hat: RV21/23/25

Cupcake: RV21/23/25, E53/55, Y13

For my background, I took a piece of pink cardstock and diecut it using the scallop die from MFT Blueprints 27 Die-namics. I masked off the “wish” and partially stamped one of the sentiments from the set directly onto the panel. Next, I diecut the letters for the word WISH four times out of white cardstock using the MFT Impact Alphabet Die-namics. I layered and adhered the letters to each other before aligning and adhering them to the pink panel with liquid adhesive.

I used the colored images to get a rough layout of my panel. I marked the location of the candle flame and poked a hole in the pink panel at that location. I stamped the “press here” and “blow” sentiments from the Pear Blossom Press Stamps and Die Bundle set onto the panel.

Next, I prepared my Pear Blossom Press Candle Light by placing the coin battery into the battery unit. Then I aligned the unit with the hole for the light and the word “press here” on my panel and secured it to the panel with tape. I tested the light out to make sure everything worked and was aligned properly.

In order to create room for the battery unit on the backside of my pink panel, I adhered some Pear Blossom Press World’s Best Foam Tape to the panel. This foam tape is absolutely AMAZING! It allows you 30 minute working time during which you can adhere, remove and re-adhere the foam tape as many times as you want and it does not tear up the cardstock! It slowly becomes permanent in 24 hours. It’s magic! Pure magic!

Finally, I removed all of the release paper from the foam tape and adhered the panel to a white card base (4.25″ x 5.5″).

I adhered the cupcake directly onto the panel then, I adhered mice to the panel with some foam tape for a bit of dimension and interest. Finally, I adhered the panel to a white cardbase (4.25″ x 5.5″) and finished the card the card with a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins.

As always, I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and visit today. I hope you liked my card.  Please also visit my INSTAGRAM feed for more inspirations.

Have a wonderful and crafty day!
