Making a Square Light-up Card with Guest Designer Samantha

Hi everyone, Samantha Pfrimmer here from @sammakescards so excited to be guest designing for Pear Blossom Press.Β  Today I will be using the
EZ-Light to light up a scene featuring the Storybook Collection 1 Big Kit stamp set from The Greeting Farm.

Card Instructions:

I love the look of a one-layer card, or in this case an almost-one-layer card, so the first thing I did was stamp and cut out my masks.Β  I always create my masks first as I find it easier to design and arrange a scene using the mask pieces.Β  Once satisfied with my design,Β  I got to stamping onto a 5.25” x 5.25” piece of Copic-friendly cardstock before stamping some of the images onto black cardstock using white pigment ink.Β  The black cardstock will be later used to enhance my light feature.Β Β  After everything was stamped and masked, I used Distress Oxides to ink-blend my floor before coloring and paper-piecing the rest of my scene.

Once my scene was complete, I grabbed a craft knife and carefully cut out sections from both my pattern paper background and my black cardstock to allow the EZ Lights to shine through.  For the lanterns I cut through both layers, but, for Grandma’s nightcap, I decided to only remove the section of the black cardstock leaving the pattern paper background to mute the glow of my 3rd light.

Once everything was cut out, I glued my lanterns over the pattern paper openings and got to work assembling my lights.

I decided I wanted my EZ-Light Button to be at Little Red Riding Hood’s basket, so using a β€œPress Here” stamp from the PB Press Stamp & Die Bundle I stamp a small message just below.Β  Next, I adhered my black card panel to the backside of my main card panel before using purple highlighter tape to tape my lights in place.Β  I also arranged my battery pack and taped it down before adding on the World’s Greatest Foam Tape.Β Β  Once everything was ready, I adhered by main card panel to a 5.5” x 5.5” piece of red cardstock before adding it to a square folding card base.

My cute card is now complete, and now Grandma has enough light to see the Big Bad Wolf’s big teeth!
