Pretty Peony 2 for 1 Cards

Hello again my crafty friends! I’m so excited to share a fun technique that will give you two cards from one background. Today, we’re celebrating Day 3 of The Rabbit Hole Designs new release and my cards feature images from the Pretty in Peony stamp set. I can’t get over how lovely these flowers are and I’m so glad to have them in my collection. As soon as I saw them, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them!

My cards were inspired by a set I saw on Pinterest that used this technique to create two cards from one background. Here is a link to that set of cards. First, you stamp, emboss, and color your Pretty in Peony floral images. (I used Prima Watercolors on watercolor paper.) Then, you’ll want to cut out the images with a narrow border. (I used my ScanNCut and my thumbs thanked me for saving them the pain of fussy cutting.) Once you have the images cut out, arrange them so they slightly overlap each other and cover an A2 size area. Glue the pieces together where they overlap. This will give you a lacy floral piece. Use a set of nesting rectangle dies to cut out a frame from the floral piece.

To assemble your cards, die cut a pair of white card fronts with the same larger rectangle die and glue them to colored A2 card bases. Apply foam tape pieces to all of the floral pieces. Pop the outer floral frame onto one card and add a smaller white die cut rectangle with your sentiment. (I stamped and embossed a sentiment from the Pretty in Peony set, then added a layered die cut word under it.) Pop the inner floral piece onto the center of the second card base and add your sentiment. (I used a smaller stamped/embossed strip and another layered word die.) Finish both cards with some flat back gems. I love the dimension and shine these cards have. And getting two cards for the same amount of effort as one is an added bonus πŸ˜‰
