Unicorn of the Sea

Hey crafty friends, it’s Day 3 of The Rabbit Hole Designs new release and inspiration hop! Today, I’ve got a pair of cards featuring the new Caffeinated Narwhal. I wanted to color her in bright, cheerful colors and combine her with rainbow backgrounds. I really love the way both of these turned out!

For both cards, I stamped, embossed, and Copic colored my narwhals, then cut them out with my ScanNCut. Originally, I planned to color one blue and the other purple, but I liked the color scheme of the blue one so much, that I ended up coloring the second one the same way.

To make the first card, I ink blended rainbow colors over a mermaid scale stencil, leaving plenty of white space. I trimmed the background down to 4″ x 5¼” and popped it up onto a white A2 card base with foam. I stamped and embossed the sentiment strips and die cut the word super from blue and white glitter paper. I glued those to the card front and popped the narwhal up with more foam tape. To finish the card, I added a coat of Aqua Shimmer pen to her horn and eyelids, and glued on coordinating colored sequins. I added Diamond Glaze to her eyeballs, horn, mug, and on top of the sequins.

For my second card, I stenciled a wave pattern onto my background in rainbow colors, then spritzed it with a little water to lift dots of the color. I die cut it with a wonky stitched rectangle, then popped it up onto a blue A2 card base with foam. To create the sentiment, I die cut the word coffee three times and stacked them, then embossed the small sentiment onto a wavy banner. I used more foam tape to pop the narwhal and sentiment up. For a little sparkle, I added a coat of Aqua Shimmer pen to her horn, eyelids, and the word coffee. I added Stickles to the mug for a chunkier glittery finish. A coat of Diamond Glaze over her eyeballs and the word coffee give the card even more shine. As a final touch, I glued on several iridescent bubbles from my stash.

So what do you think of the newest caffeinated critter in the lineup? Isn’t she fun? And which rainbow background do you like better? I love them both!
