Elegant Light-Up Cupcake Card

Friends, today we’re going to make an easy, elegant light up card! We’ll be using the Pear Blossom Press Candle Light, to light up a gorgeous cupcake; just press of a button, the card lights up, and then you can blow it out. It is honestly one of the most delightful things I’ve ever put in an envelope.

For the cupcake itself, I reached for the Just Add Cake Cardmaking Kit from Spellbinders, and friends, this kit is packed — dies, stamps, a 3D embossing folder, shaker elements, gorgeous cardstock, the works, but you could any cupcake stamp or die for a similar effect. I began by assembling my cupcake.

Then I worked on a very fancy sentiment. I taped my light blue arch to the front of my Misti so I could curve my stamp to match. Then I tested it on some acetate before stamping it on my card and then running it through a 3D embossing folder.

Next, the key to getting the Pear Blossom Press Candle Light working just right is all in the placement; you want that tiny black dot on the sensor lined up perfectly behind the hole you poke through your card stock so the air hits it when you blow. Once it’s taped into place and tested, a little foam tape and wet glue are all you need to bring the whole thing together.

This ended up being the fastest light-up card I’ve ever made, and it might just be my favorite. I hope it inspires you to give this one a try!
