As soon as I saw Rory the Caffeinated Raccoon, I knew I wanted to color her up in non-traditional colors. With fall right around the corner, I decided on an autumn palette. I stamped her in black ink, and colored her in shades of red and warm grey, with Copic markers.

For the scene around her, I was inspired by one of Jammie’s classes at Sweet Sentiment, where she teaches how to draw a simple woodland scene. I didn’t copy it exactly, I just used some of the principals as guidelines. And her trick for the leaves is so fast and simple! If you like the idea of drawing in your own scenes, but don’t think you can draw, I encourage you to try one of her classes. You’ll be surprised at what you end up with!

After I finished my scene, I trimmed the panel down to 3¾” x 5″ and mounted it to a black panel, cut slightly larger. I stamped a birthday sentiment from the new Blended Sentiments 2 set in the foreground. Instead of popping the panel up on a plain white card base, I blended Fadeout ink through the Chain Mail Stencil onto my card base first. Just for fun, I decided to skew the panel a bit when I adhered it to the card. To finish the card, I brushed a shimmer pen over the mug and applied a coat of Diamond Glaze. A few gold gems add a warm sparkle to the card, perfect for fall.

Isn’t she cute? Who wouldn’t want to share a latte with her? Would you like to see more inspiration for Rory the Caffeinated Raccoon? Hop along with us!

  1. How cute. We just had 5 raccoons raiding our campground…so much fun to see them.
