Lacy Pennant Banner Card

I love the look of pennant banners hanging across cards; they always feel so festive. So when I saw the decorative strip in Spellbinder’s May Small Die of the Month, I knew I wanted to create a lacy banner with it. Isn’t it fun?

This card was easy to create and came together quickly. I die cut the decorative strips in the Small Die of the Month set from several shades of cardstock. After cutting each strip in half, I folded the ends over where the pattern repeats to create the pennants (trimming a little off the back as needed to keep a mirror image of the front). I glued them around a length of baker’s twine, then taped taped it to a stamped panel.

I stamped the 2¾” x 5¾” white panel with a sentiment and small leaf from the May Clear Stamp of the Month set, in coordinating colors. To attach the panel to my 3¼” x 6¼” mini-slimline card base, I used foam tape, avoiding the area where the twine was folded over, so I wouldn’t have any weird bumps. A tiny strip of foam tape pops the bottom of each pennant up as well. To finish the card, I added a few gold gems, and a coat of shimmer pen over each pennant. This card fits in a #7 coin envelope.

I really love the pop of colors, and the 3D banner. This card is festive, and reminds me of cards you’d find in high end stores. It’s going to make a great graduation card. What will you create with this month’s Clear Stamp and Small Die of the Month? I can’t wait to see! Remember, in order to receive the May stamps and dies, your order needs to be placed by May 24th. (Otherwise, they will send you June’s.)

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I’ll be back soon with more fun cards to share.
