My Second Favorite F Word

The new release from The Rabbit Hole Designs is available today, and it doesn’t disappoint! Haha, my favorite set is Fall Foxes, hands down. The critters are cute as can be and the sentiments are perfect. Especially, the sassy one! The Falling Leaves suite is fantastic too. There is a big background stamp, a stencil that lines up perfectly (negatives are included as well), coordinating dies and hot foil plates. You can mix and match, or get them all for tons of possibilities! I made three mini-slimline cards featuring these sets. Take a look…

Since this is part of a blog hop, I’ll just give you a brief description for each card, so I don’t keep you too long.

Let’s take a look at the kraft Fox first. I finally broke down and bought a good set of colored pencils, Polychromos, and I wanted to give them a test drive. After stamping the fox and sentiment in Warm Glow ink on a kraft panel, I colored the fox no-line style. Man, those pencils are vibrant and blend like butter! In fact, the white was so bright, I had to tone it down with a little yellow and light orange. To add texture to the background, I splattered on Copic Opaque White, but I didn’t want to get it on the fox. Instead of stamping and fussy cutting a mask, I just cut one with the coordinating die. It was slightly larger than the image, but you can’t tell from the splatter and it was so much faster! For the sparkle in her eyes, I dotted more Copic White on with a small ball-tipped stylus. To pull the card together, I mounted the kraft panel onto a burnt orange panel, and then onto a mini-slimline card base. A few sequins add sparkle, but keep the card feeling clean and simple. Since I doctored the sentiment and only stamped two of the three lines on front, I added the last line inside the card. What do you think? I love a good sassy card!

Next, let’s dive into those Fall Leaves! To start, I stamped the big background onto a white panel with Warm Glow ink, making sure to leave the stamp in place in my Misti. I lined up the stencil and blended on a rainbow of inks (opting for rich fall shades). Then, I splattered darker ink and shimmery watercolor over the leaves. After the panel was completely dry, I treated it with my anti-static powder tool, re-stamped the image, and heat embossed it with gold powder. It was so pretty at that point, but I didn’t stop there. I die cut the leaves with the coordinating dies (didn’t use the hot foil plates this time), scattered them across a cream card base, overlapping some, and glued them in place. To finish the card, I stacked a gold and vellum sentiment and added gold pearls. Aren’t those leaves pretty?

With the remaining leaves, I decided to put together one more quick card. I stamped another Fall Fox with Warm Glow ink, but this time I colored him with Copic markers, instead of pencils. Then I cut him out with the coordinating die. While I was stamping and die cutting, I heat embossed the sentiment and cut it out of deep red cardstock. To add a little texture to the background, I splattered gold shimmer across a cream panel, then mounted it to more deep red cardstock and a kraft card base. I popped the leaves and fox up with thin foam tape and glued the sentiment underneath. Gold pearls add more shimmer and dimension. I love this one too!

So what do you think of my trio? Pretty cute, right? I can’t pick a favorite. If you want to recreate cards like this, head on over to The Rabbit Hole Designs and pick up these goodies from the new release!
