Scratcher Cards with Heffy Doodle and The Greeting Farm

Hello, hello my crafty friend! Today, I’m back with a set of interactive cards that are fun for all ages. I made scratchers! That’s right, the kind where you reveal a hidden sentiment by scratching off the coating with a coin. Don’t worry, there was no dish soap/acrylic paint mix to mess with (I’ve had that fail miserably before). I simply used scratch off stickers on top of my embossed sentiments. Easy peasy! And for today’s cards, I used images from both Heffy Doodle, and The Greeting Farm, since we’re having a collab hop. Let me show you…

First, let’s take a look at the valentine. I couldn’t resist pairing Ramen Anya with Pasta La Vista for this punny card. With an embossed background in mind, I only stamped Anya out onto alcohol friendly cardstock, and colored her with my Copics. You can see the colors I used below.

RAMEN COLORING CHART

Hair – BG49 BG45 BG32 BG11
Skin – R20 E99 E33 E21 E51
Dress, Shoes, Flower, & Ginger – R46 R14 R32 R30
Egg – Y19 Y06 E000
Ramen – Y23 E000
Highlights – White Gel Pen

After coloring Anya, I cut her out with my ScanNCut, leaving a narrow border. Then, I created the mini-slimline card base (3 1/4″ x 6 1/4″) with Butterscotch yellow cardstock, and heat embossed the sentiment and pasta images with white powder. After choosing a scratch off sticker large enough to cover my sentiment, I stuck it on top, and popped Anya up with foam tape. A few pink gems, and a brush of the shimmer pen added the final details.

Want to see another one? Let’s look at the sweet unicorn card. This time, I paired Unicorn Bday Anya with the Fluffy Puffy Unicorns for a fun scene. After I stamped and colored them all with Copic markers, I fussy cut Anya with my ScanNCut again, and used the coordinating dies for the unicorns (it was just easier). I ended up with more unicorns than I needed for my card, but that’s okay. I just tucked the extras into my stamp pocket for another card later. You can see the colors I used in the chart below.

This time, I created a stenciled background for my mini-slimline card. After stenciling sun rays onto the upper portion of the card, I used a little Memo Tape to extend the rays down to the bottom of the panel (the card measures about 1/2″ taller than my stencil). I knew I’d be covering up most of the bottom anyway, so I only worried about the rays on the outside edges.

After that, I stamped a sentiment from Fluffy Puffy Unicorns and picked out a holographic scratch off sticker to cover it up. Notice the grey cardstock circle next to the sticker below? It’s cut to the same 1 1/2″ size as the sticker, so I could use it to test coverage and placement of the stamp when I was laying out my design.

Pulling the card together was simple after that. I put the sticker on top of the sentiment and popped Anya and the unicorns up with various thicknesses of foam tape. I added a few die cut clouds to ground them, and then more shimmer pen and pink gems for sparkle. When I send out this card, I plan to stick a penny inside with a glue dot, and let the recipient know to scratch off the patch.

What do you think? Fun, right? I love the way so many of the Anya girls pair up with my Heffy Doodle sets. What sets will you combine?
