Hi, crafty friends! It’s Meg from I Teach Stamping, and I’m happy to be back on the Pear Blossom Press blog! I love making simple cards with playful details, and today’s card has a little surprise tucked behind that candle.

A cozy collection of Catherine Pooler stamped images, a pretty white background, and a “sending hugs” sentiment make this a sweet card for someone who could use a little love. But press the button, and that little candle lights up!
Apparently, I now send hugs with mood lighting. 😊
For this card, I used the One Light and Colored Vellum from Pear Blossom Press. The One Light brings the candle to life, and the vellum adds that lovely touch of color to the glow.
Can we talk about that colored vellum for a second? It’s one of my favorite products Pear Blossom Press carries! It comes in a great assortment of colors, and it’s such a fun detail to pair with your lights.
Here’s a peek behind the scenes so you can see how the light is attached and positioned behind the candle flame. I always enjoy seeing what’s hiding between the layers of a light-up card—it helps that little bit of card-making magic make sense!

That’s what I love about light-up cards: even a small illuminated detail adds so much personality. One little candle turns a sweet card into something the recipient will want to press again. And again. We’re all grown-ups here, but we’re still going to push the button!

Try adding a little glow to your next card. A candle, a lantern, a star—sometimes the smallest detail delivers the biggest smile!
