Today I have a delightfully snarky light-up birthday card. This is one hot birthday with a bonfire of a cake. Press the belly of the raccoon and the whole thing lights up in three twinkling spots, all powered by the Twinkle Light from Pear Blossom Press. To maximize the glow from our twinkle lights, I used the three flame dies to cut partial flames out of three colors of vellum from the A2 Vellum – Color (45 Pack). Then I cut away part of each so I ended up with a single layer of vellum in a gradient of fiery colors. Since the flame openening is quite large, I assembled the flames onto a Window Sheet. They are heavyweight and added a layer of stability.

From here, I was able to tape down my twinkle lights onto the card base and attach the battery pack to the purple card front panel. The lights are easy to add, too: you just pop in the battery, push the button, and you’re in business. It may seem odd to install the battery pack upside down, but this way I was able to cut an escape hatch on the inside of the card so you can swap the battery when it wears out, because this card is a keeper. I’ll be using the flames from this Spellbinders Cake Die on many light-up cards to come.
