Hello friends! Today’s card is a double-interactive watermelon that shakes AND spins, and I love it so much. I could live on watermelon about three months out of the year, so when there’s a watermelon option for card making, I am all in.
The spinning magic comes from the Snap n Spin from Pear Blossom Press. Once I assembled the front panel with my shaker watermelon, I create a template out of scratch paper to find the center of the circle. I marked the front panel with a pencil so I could attach my Snap ‘n Spin. Then I marked the center of my circle-shaped card and cut a ¼” hole in the center. Once done, I threaded the Snap and Spin through the hole in the card base to create my spinning melon. The whole watermelon twirls with a flick of your finger.
In the video, I share my favorite little tricks along the way, like using a Sticky Spot from Pear Blossom Press to keep everything perfectly centered and getting tiny die cuts to stick to slippery acetate. This one would be perfect for summer birthdays, thank yous, or just because; who wouldn’t smile at a spinning watermelon? I hope it gets you excited to play.
