If you’ve got a house full of gamers this one is going to be a total hit. We’re building a video game controller card from scratch using the Game Controller die from Scrappy Boy Stamps, complete with spinning joystick buttons and cross-shaped directional buttons that actually light up. The Pear Blossom Press EZ Lights make the lighting element quick and easy with three lights on wires that you can position anywhere you want. Since ours are behind the buttons, the A2 Vellum Color 45 Pack is a delightful addition. It has 45 sheets of vellum in lots of different colors. I used green and a soft teal behind the light-up cross buttons and I still have lots left on both of those sheets since I only needed a small circle.

If light-up buttons weren’t enough, the Snap n Slides create easy spinning joystick buttons that are so satisfying to play with. I added a heart to each to really draw attention to the rotations. When I had my kids test this out, the joystick buttons were a huge hit, maybe even more than the lights. This card genuinely had my whole crew fighting over it before I could even photograph it. And of course, I created an escape hatch for the battery so it can be replaced. I hope it inspires you to make something totally unexpected for someone you love, and as always, I’ll see you next time!
