Hi crafty friends – it’s Dee from @deezinesbyd here and today I’m sharing a card that brings a little magical mystery to your craft table! This sweet interactive card features an adorable Loch Ness Monster-inspired scene complete with glowing nighttime waters and a tiny illuminated boat sailing above our gentle little lake monster friend. There’s something extra special about a handmade card that lights up — it instantly turns your project into an unforgettable experience!
To create the magical glow, I used Pear Blossom Press’ amazing One Lights. I tucked the light behind the tiny boat to create the illusion of a lantern shining across the dark waters of the lake. For this project, I used the light included in the Halo Combo Pack, but individual One Lights are also available and are perfect for adding simple interactive elements to your cards.
I absolutely love how easy these lights are to incorporate into card designs. With just the press of a button, the entire scene comes to life and gives the cutest little “Nessie sighting” vibe! Interactive cards like this are such a fun way to surprise friends and family and make your handmade creations feel even more magical.
Here’s a look at the back of the card so you can see just how easy it was to add the light into this scene. I simply poked a small hole, secured the light in place with washi tape, and added two layers of foam tape around the back panel before attaching everything to the card base. In just a few quick steps, the interactive element was ready to go! It’s such a simple addition, but it creates an incredibly magical effect and adds so much impact to the finished card.
