Coffee Lover’s Blog Hop

Hey crafty friends, it’s time for the Coffee Loving Cardmakers’ Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! I’m joining in, along with the whole team from The Rabbit Hole Designs. This is the first time The Rabbit Hole Designs is participating and they are excited to be Super Sponsors for the event! In addition to the prizes being given away over on the Coffee Lovers blog page, The Rabbit Hole Designs will be doing some fun giveaways randomly on their blog, so be sure to check in each day of the hop to see what they might be giving away on the blog post of the day. The design team will be sharing lots of fun new projects featuring your favorite Caffeinated Critters and the newly released Perfectly Blended sentiments!

For today’s card, I wanted to build a scene outside of a coffee shop. I started by stamping and embossing my Caffeinated Rabbit and coloring him with Copic markers. Then, I cut him out with my ScanNCut.

To create the coffee shop, I die cut/embossed a white A2 sized piece of cardstock with a window box die. This cuts a window from the center of the piece and embosses a stone wall texture into the surrounding area. I wanted the window to look like french doors, so I cut the bottom of the panel off, just below the window and placed it at the top of the panel. To hide the seam, I created a scalloped awning by die cutting the stem from this die set multiple times from green and yellow stock. I cut them in half and glued them to a strip of cardstock. To give the awning some dimension, I scored a line 3/8″ from the top edge and folded it out a little.

Before I glued anything to my yellow card base, I created the counter and menu that are tucked behind the doors. I cut a strip of kraft stock and glued it to the bottom center of the card base. I added a thin strip of cream stock along the top of the kraft edge to create a countertop. I stamped and embossed menu items using words from the Perfectly Blended stamp set onto yellow pattern paper, and glued it in place. I added tiny black brads to mimic doorknobs, then glued the door/stone panel pieces to the card base. I glued the top of the awning flat to the card, and popped the bottom portion out with foam tape. To create a cleaner edge above the awning, I glued on a thing green strip. I folded the doors open a little, then popped my rabbit in place with foam tape.

To create the sign at the top of the shop, I die cut the word coffee three times from green stock and glued the layers together. I stamped and embossed #hoptoit on one of the yellow stem pieces left over from the awning. I trimmed it to fit behind the die cut word and glued them to the top of the card. It might seem like a complicated card, but the window die did the hard parts for me so this card was actually pretty easy to make. I really like the way it turned out too! I would be fun to make in other color schemes and I think the Caffeinated Dino would work great in place of the Caffeinated Rabbit as well. How would you modify this card if you were recreating it? Do you like to create scenes with dies, stamps, or do you like to draw your own? Let me know in the comments down below…
