Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter Hop

Hello my crafty friend, it’s Amanda Stevens (lol, with another Amanda on the team now, I need to specify). If you happen to be a coffee-loving cardmaker, you are going to be so happy you stopped by today. The Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop starts today and in addition to tons of great inspiration coming out over the next week, there are lots of fantastic prizes to be won! The best part is that you play along to enter. So you get to show off your own coffee cards, and share even more inspiration with everyone hopping! I’ll tell you more about that down below.

As a special thank you for all the coffee lovers hopping with us, I’d like to offer you a discount in our shop! Use the code COFFEE15 for 15% off your order, now through Nov 10, 2023. This offer cannot be combined with other discounts.

Have you seen the new Merry Mug & Circle Delight Collection from Spellbinders? The sets are all so cute, so I had to get the whole bundle. I knew I wanted to turn the reindeer into a coffee mug for this hop. Of course I couldn’t help myself, I just had to add a One Light to my card too. I mean, Rudolph’s nose is supposed to glow, right? Haha, want to see?

Pretty cute, right? The gold embossed sentiment ties it all together too. If you’d like to recreate a card like this, grab these supplies…

Don’t forget to use the discount code COFFEE15 in our shop this week!

To assemble the reindeer, I simply followed Spellbinder’s guide, except I glued the pieces of his face to the mug instead of the circle. I had to trim the dark brown forehead piece, but that was easy. Instead of cutting a nose to glue on top, I die cut a circle from his face and glued red vellum behind. I also tucked in whipped cream and a candy cane at the top of the mug. Then, I put my reindeer into my Misti and lined up a One Light on top of his face, with the LED centered over his nose. I put the “PRESS” stamp on top of the button and picked it up with the lid of the Misti. That way, I could move the light and stamp “PRESS” in exactly the right spot on the whipped cream. I used double stick tape on the silver battery clip to adhere the light to the back of the reindeer, lining up the LED behind his nose, and the button under the stamped word. So simple.

To pull the card together, I cut and folded a kraft A2 card base and added a pattern paper layer on top. I trimmed a piece of vellum down and heat embossed the sentiment with gold powder. After gluing the vellum to the card, I used double thick foam tape to adhere the reindeer in place. (You want double thick foam because it’s the same height as the light.) That’s it, easy peasy.

Are you inspired to play along and share a coffee card too? After you make one, snap a photo and add it to the Coffee Lovers Blog Post. (There is a button at the bottom of the post that allows you to upload your photo.) Just like with previous Coffee Lovers Blog Hops, prizes are based on participation rather than commenting. The organizers use random.org to draw the winners. Please head over to the Coffee Lovers Blog for complete details. I can’t wait to see what you create! And if you are really inspired, you can add more than one card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. If you love the idea of light-up reindeer cards, be sure to check out April’s post today too! She’s sharing a really cute card that you don’t want to miss. I’ll be back soon with more fun cards to share.
